Flag football is the perfect way to learn the ins and outs of American football without the worry of expensive equipment or heavy tackles.
Flag football teaches you vital skills like running, catching, teamwork and co-ordination and all are vital in American football. flag football lets you learn those skills in a fun and safe environment.
To play Flag Football, all you need is a ball, some flag belts, cones and an area around 50m x 25m. The principles of the game are similar to the contact version of American Football, however, to make a tackle, you simply rip a velcro flag or ribbon from belt worn by the ball carrier – it is as easy as that!
It is played by both boys and girls – normally five-a-side. Teams can be made up of both male and females. Many people go on to play American football once they've mastered flag, but if you want to stick with flag you can.
You can play American Football at the Kent Exiles if you are a boy or a girl from the age of seven. The contact version of the sport is played at the club from the age of fourteen.
Currently the Flag team trains fortnightly on a Sunday morning from 11.30am until 12.30pm, we aim to move this to weekly training once we can appoint a full time coach to the squads. We have started the teams now due to overwhelming demand, and already have 10 children regularly attending, with more joining all the time.
Please use the contact us section for details of the next training session, new comers are always welcome, and parents are more than welcome to watch or enjoy a sit down in the clubhouse!
