Harry Innis in Action

The Kent Exiles are proud to announce their first graduate to progress to University Football in the USA, with Harry Innis going to NCAA Division I’s University of New Mexico.

Harry, from Bromley, Kent, plays tight end and spent the 2008 and 2009 seasons with the Exiles, before using 2010 to concentrate on following his dream move to the USA with the London Based Dynamic Sports Academy. He will be moving to Alberqueque, New Mexico in July where he will be undertaking a Sport Science degree while joining The 'Lobos'. This is the first time a British trained player has received an offer to play for a Div I-A University with the opportunity to play in stadiums with over 80,000 capacity.

The University of New Mexico currently has 9 graduates playing in the NFL, including 6 times Pro Bowler Brian Urlacher of the Chicago Bears. UNM play within the Mountain West Conference had 13 players selected to NFL teams as part of the NFL draft in April this year, something Harry will be striving to emulate.

The Lobos kick-off their season with a bang against current division champions and last year’s Rose Bowl runners-up the University of Oregon Ducks, they then welcome high-scoring Texas Tech and the University of Utah (who were ranked second in the nation following the 2008 season) in consecutive weeks. In addition their schedule concludes with big games against Brigham Young University, the only non-BCS school ever to win a national championship, and finally a visit from Texas Christian University who were ranked No. 3 in the nation last year following an unbeaten season.

"Obviously we're very proud of Harry, and wish him the best of luck following his dream in New Mexico" said Exiles Coach Dave Pester, "he joined the team back in 2008 having never played the sport before, but wanting to try something new. We're proud of our set up and Caoches here, and this just goes to show what you can do with hard work and the right training".

The Exiles are always recruiting new athletes to their squads in all age groups from age 14 upwards, and would welcome any prospective joiners to contact the club via their website, www.kentexiles.co.uk.
